Krokus67, Verified. This information is taken from the system and not from the bootloader. And the bootloader is about that and the bootloader that its task is to perform the necessary checks when starting and run the further process of loading the system. In general, the bootloader does not transmit anything to the system, and the system does not take anything from the bootloader.
The only reliable way to find out which bootloader is set, is described in the header. And I did not hear what difficulties to determine the type of loader according to the instructions from the header. I simply painted everything in very detailed, each action so that anyone could do it.
If briefly, this instruction can be represented in a very short form:
1. Start the phone in fastboot mode and connect to a computer.
2. Execute the command fastboot getvar product.
You can of course check:

Oxygen or Tiffany?
How to find out what type of device without PC and third-party programs:
- Turn off the phone, and turn it on, on the Oxygen will first highlight the black screen, and only then it will be loaded with the MI logo and run three points. At Tiffany, when turned on, the MI should immediately light up and then go loading - (run three points).
- There is another option, it turn off the phone, press the volume button minus and turn on, if the FastBoot has not appeared means - Oxygen, if it appears - Tiffany.
But these are subjective methods of checking, misunderstanding about the MI logo, about three points, etc.
