Sync music in Ubuntu with iPhone over WiFi Today, Linux is synchronized with the iPhone, just like any software, it has tambourines there. From myself, I want to say that not everyone and not all devices manage to make friends, that via usb, that through wi-fi. Just in case, if the FAQ does not help, then you can try to put such software:
Rhythmbox,
Exaile,
Songbirdand connect your animal via USB. Programs you can download from the repository.
And so we will consider Ugluntu-based synchronization info that I googled with
Amarokvia wifi.
1. Preparing iPhone / iTouch: - if you still do not have BSD Subsystem and SSH on your phone, then install them from the Installer;
- set Settings->General->Auto-Lock to ”Never”;
- connect the iPhone to the same access point to which your computer is connected;
- go to Settings->WiFi->connection name->blue arrow and look at the IP address of your iPhone and click on “Static”. Your iPhone / iTouch will now have a permanent IP.
2. Preparing Ubuntu: - if you use Ubuntu Hardy Heron (8.04), then you just need to install ipod-convenience from Synaptic or using the terminal. And make sure that libgpod3 is at your default. Go to step 3;
- if you use Gutsy (7.10), then you need to add a repository to Synaptic
http://ppa.launchpad.net/ipod-touch/ubun...gutsy main and install ipod-convenience from it;
- during the installation of ipod-convenience, enter the IP of your iPhone / iTouch and specify the mount point;
- connect your iPhone / iTouch using a USB cable to your computer (do not worry, this is a one-time procedure required to initialize SSH);
- enter the following command in the terminal:
iphone-mount - if you have an iPhone
or
ipod-touch-mount - if you have an iPod Touch;
- wait until a window appears asking for the password for "root";
- enter the password "dottie" or "alpine" depending on your firmware;
- enter in the terminal:
iphone-umount or ipod-touch-umount
3. Synchronization with Amarok: - go to Settings->Configure Amarok;
- click "Add Device" in the "Media Devices" menu and select the "Apple iPod Device" plug-in;
- enter the mount point and the name of your iPhone / iTouch;
- Go back to “Media Devices” and click on “Configure” your plugin.
- enter the commands for mounting / removing the device (for example: iphone-mount / iphone-unmount) and click OK;
- return to the main program window and click Devices->iPod and select your device model;
- click on “Connect”;
- enter the password for “root” twice;
- everything! Now you can transfer music from your computer to the device via WiFi.
Attention, when using synchronization programs, there may be problems with the loss of play lists and other files, you use all programs at your own peril and risk!Discussion linukh and apple:
